How can users track citation updates in Sage Journals?
You can view information, including citation guidance, about OnlineFirst articles here: https://journals.sagepub.com/page/help/online-first.
Jessica Offenberger, an Editor on the STM side of Sage Journals, provides this guidance on pre-print to print timelines: "The time it takes from an article going OnlineFirst to be published in an issue depends on the journal and the backlog. There is not a standard amount of time for all publications."
I've attached an mp4 about locating updated citations within Sage Journals. Every journal article includes a section titled "Information, Rights, and Permissions." Once selected, a pop-out will appear with updated information about the article, publication, authors, and more. There, users will find CrossMark button which "gives readers quick and easy access to the current status of an item of content, including any corrections, retractions, or updates to that record." Users can use this button to view the most up-to-date reference information for any article, including OnlineFirst articles. The attached video explains the process using two different journal articles as examples.
